Pre-press

All forms of origination are undertaken using both PC and Apple Macintosh (OS9 up to OSX Panther) computer systems. This includes typesetting, scanning, design and layout by three operatives with vast experience in the printing trade. Skilled to a high degree in the use of various packages including Acrobat, Distiller, Pagemaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and QuarkXpress. Our staff are fully conversant in the use of all external and internal drives including CD-rom, DVD, Iomega Zip 100/250Mb and Iomega Jaz 2Gb of which we are compatible.

PDF (Portable Document Format)

Scottish County Press will supply customers with a CD disk containing a PPD (Printer Description File) a Distiller Job Option File along with a Simple Text file explaining simple step-by-step instructions.

Scanning

AGFA Horizon Ultra A3 flatbed scanner. AGFA Arcus II A4 flatbed scanner. Both scanners capable of scanning transparencies, reflective pictures and line artwork.
All scanned images can be copied to CD or Zip disk if required at competitive rates.

Computer to Plate

Two Heidelberg trendsetters B1 size computer to plate system which enables perfect registration using Prinergy software. Electronic impositions achieved by using Heidelberg Signastation imposition software.
Plate Sizes: 677mm x 965mm = Harris 790mm x 1030mm = Speedmaster (B1)
If a customer supplies Hi-Res PDF's to Scottish County Press on CD or by ISDN we can print down to plate an 8pp A3, 16pp A4, or 32pp A5 within 25 minutes including full colour proofs for checking.

Proofing

Epson 500 colour laster printer, A3 size.
Hewlett Packard DesignJet 1050, A1 size. This system allows for a pre-press revise of completed works to be checked before outputting to plate.

ISDN

4-channel ISDN line, allowing high speed transmission directly into pre-press department.

Broadband

Allowing high speed transmission directly into pre-press department.
